Welcome to the Lot's of Stuff site.  I couldn't think of a snappy name, so called it what it was, a site about Lot's of Stuff.  Originally I used this site as a dmonstration site for the Joomla CMS applications, but now it's to organize comments and infomation about activities I enjoy and have an interest in.  I invite you to register and feel free to comment on any of the articles here.  If you are also an RV enthusiast, check out the Forum, starting to collect information about good places to RV around the country.

I move between the NW and SW during the year depending on the weather and therefore have a particular interest in the western United States, but have discussion forums for all areas.

RVs and Camping PDF Print E-mail

I have been camping for many years, using tents, campers, travel trailers, Class C, 5th wheel, and hybrid.  I have posted here some of my adventures and mis-adventures. I make a distinct difference between "camping" and "RVing".  its not based on the type vehicle, but how and where you go. You can "camp" in an RV.  Camping is going to the out of the way places, without RV pads, or full hookups, and leaving a lot of your electronic toys behind.  RVing is taking it all with you, to a park with RV pads, 50 amp hookups, cable, water and sewer. With my 17 foot hybrid, I could "camp" or RV, depending on how much I wanted to rough it.  In my 32 foot 5th wheel, it was mostly RVing, most camping areas were too small to accomdate it. You get the point...

After 26 years in the military, years of RV life, and travel betwen summer and winter homes, travel is a subject near and dear to me. We are always on the lookout for great places to stay and eat. Most of the places listed here are oriented towards adults and/or romantic get aways, but we do occasionally take along the grandkids.  Besides being able to comment on our selected sites, surf over to the Forums and add your own.

I have developed a rating scheme for the places to eat and places to stay.  The Places to Eat is based on a 5 point system.  Even a 1 could be good, but it compares the level of service, quality of food, atomsphere to the other rated resturants.  For example, a chain usually gets a 0 in my book, so 1-5 is average to above average.

The Places to Stay is based on romantic atomsphere rather than comfort.  I typically do not rate a place just as a place to stay, but rather on the romantic get-away aspect.  So a good place to stay might get a 3 for romance, but is still a great place to visit. Use your own judgement in interpreting the ratings. Again, it's based on a 1-5 system.

I am not a sports nut, but have spent a large portion of my life doing "outdoors" stuff.  At different points in my life, I have enjoyed different sports. As I grow older and plan for my retirement, I feel a need to focus on the things I really enjoy doing. I love fishing of all types, but especially fly fishing.  In the last few years, I have started to enjoy bicycling a lot, especially in AZ. Of course, Golf has been a passion for many years.  I used to do some canoeing and kayking, which I will take up in some fashion, mostly to satisfy my fishing needs. Listed here will be stories and recommendations of places to go and things to do.

If you are interested in any of the subjects here, don't forget to visit the Forum. I have threads for all the subjects here and you can post your recommendations, or comment on those of others. If you have visited one of the places listed in my camping adventures, places to stay, or places to eat, then please use the Comments section to add your input. The purpose of the site is to provide others with information that might be useful to them in planning for their next RV or travel adventure.

Due to the increased amount of spammers trying to get access to this site and the forums, I have had to introduce a policy of reviewering registration prior to approval.  If you register and get refused, try again, and send a message to the admin.  I don't except "fishy" e-mail addresses and may accidently delete a non-spammer.  My apologies.
